““Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.””
— James Madison

In a Few Words…

Beneath the debate about the divisions in our country, people broadly agree that our political system is failing badly. The question has always been what, if anything, can be done about it.

As it turns out, some of the issues are easy to identify: unending partisan warfare, the stranglehold special interests hold over lawmakers, and the vast amounts of money used to sway—or outright corrupt—political officials. At the same time, the people who can actually make a difference either don’t understand the problems, don’t know how or where to get unbiased information, don’t know how to fix our broken system, or don’t think that they can do anything about the situation.

Who are these potential problem solvers? You, the everyday American voter, who, with just a modest effort, can help. Are you curious about the structure of our government and how it’s supposed to function? You can find that on GWR. Do you want to know who contributes the most money to various candidates and ballot measures? GWR will show you how to do that with ease. Best of all, you can pick and choose what you want to learn, and you can proceed at your own pace. And it’s all free.

Are you wondering about the name GeorgeWasRight? President Washington was not a fan of political parties for reasons that turned out to be prescient. You can read his views on parties in this part of his Farewell Address to the Nation. It is out of respect for his foresight, bravery, and leadership that we’ve chosen this name.

Here at GWR, we provide free, factual, nonpartisan information to assist citizens in returning the reins of power back to the people. We can and must do better than accepting a government beholden to special interests and political self-dealing. The men and women who founded this nation gave the people the power to peacefully make such changes. The rest is up to us. See how you can help make it happen.
